| Rows | on --border hairlines, no tint and no chips |
|---|---|
| Axon | one dot of --tissue down a 48px column, a node per post |
| Node | sized by reading time: 2.5 dots at 4 minutes, growing 0.45 dots a minute |
| Elsewhere | an open node, and the platform as a label (“Medium ↗”) where a reading time would be |
| Columns | the date in 144px, the title in the clean cut, the reading time right; on a phone the date and reading time drop under the title |
| Hot | the node heats into a --state cell and fires (280ms), its drop to the hairline lights, and the hairline develops to the far edge in 140ms |
| Leaving | the rule retracts in 100ms |
Timings are read from rule.ts at build time.

The hover starts at the node
Until Oct 2026 the flare fired on the hairline under the node, so the hover seemed to start below the ball, and the node only changed colour. Now the node fires as a cell and the rule only develops out of it.
