Anatomy
| Grid | 12×12 cells, “#” for ink |
|---|---|
| Sizes | 12px, or 24px for the contact mark; only whole multiples of the grid, so a cell never lands on half a pixel |
| Strokes | One cell; boldness comes from the render scale, not thicker cells |
| Colour | currentColor, shape-rendering crispEdges, no curves |
| Platform marks | 16px in a cell, the platform’s own SVG |
Decisions
-
The @ at one-cell strokes
Two-cell strokes closed up the counters on this grid and it stopped reading as @; tried July 2026, it looked like a robot face.
-
Platforms keep their marks
A 1-bit tracing of a logo read as a generic critter rather than the platform (Oct 2026). Pixel icons stay for everything the site draws itself.
-
Added for the component system
next, chevron, check, plus, minus, search, out, alert, dot and grip were drawn on the same rules in Oct 2026.
