Document end
A post ends on one ink rule: the way back, and the next one.
States
-
Back hot
hover or :focus-visible on the link
DocEnd’s back link: the cell fires; with a mouse the label turns --state.
-
Next hot
hover or :focus-visible on the link
DocEnd’s next link: its cell fires.
-
The last document
no next
Only the way back.
Anatomy
| Rule | one --ink rule under the reading column, --prose-break below the last section and --section-pad above the foot |
|---|---|
| Back | the back cell and the index section’s name as a label in ink: a return, so the cascade burns back into the link |
| Next | the next document in the index’s order: its title in the clean cut at 18/24 and its metadata as a label, right-aligned, with a next cell |
| Metadata | parts half a module apart with no separator, wrapping whole |
| Hover | each link is its cell’s hover scope: the cell fires and the text turns --state; the rule stays ink |
| Last | the last document has no next, only the way back |
Decisions
-
Somewhere to go
Posts and case studies stopped dead after their last section, with the only way on at the top.
-
The cleaner of three
Chosen over a “Keep reading” index of neighbouring posts and a next-plus-contact block. Contact is already in the menu.
-
The rule stays ink
It closes the article rather than belonging to either link, so hovering a link never turns it red.
-
Whole parts
A long client on a phone drops the year to the next line rather than leaving a “·” at a line’s end.
-
No site footer
Its jobs went to the rail and the site menu in July 2026.
