Chat: Conversion test

Sep 21, 2026

start the conversion test on film/valentines2026

  2. Claude 10:40 am

The conversion test passed on 28 of 29 frames. Custom conversion works well enough to build on, and it needs no darktable to get there. … Mine are brighter and more neutral, while your exports lean teal and dark (the Hotel del Coronado sky, the beach portrait, the garden). That is taste as much as correctness, so you should judge.

i like your direction, run the dust detection test

Anatomy

Head an ink rule on top and under it: the title left, the date right, both labels
Turns hairlines between them; the speaker and local time in the label voice in a 96px column, the text at 16/24
Assistant a full-width --plate band, the name in --muted-foreground
Person on paper, the name in --ink
Inset 12px on every row, the head and the caption, so text aligns across both voices
Text verbatim, except trims marked with “…”

Decisions

  • A table, not bubbles

The turns are set as a table so they read as quoted evidence rather than a chat.

  • A band for one voice

With identical rows the excerpt read as a flat table and the voices had to be found by reading the labels, so the assistant’s turns took a plate band (Oct 2026). It is tonal only, never red and never a bubble.
